Success Stories & Testimonials

I started training with Alan because I needed help lowering my 2 mile run time. I’ve never been a runner, so my times were right around 16:30. We set a goal, and after about two months of training I lowered my time to 14:15. Alan was accommodating to my schedule when scheduling track days, and he gave me a run routine to work on in between our training sessions. I’d recommend him on the basis that he definitely improved my form, my run times, and he helped me with other things like proper stretches, running and work out schedules, and how to train for a race. As a customer, I’m definitely satisfied.

Because coaching is such a personal choice, it’s sometimes difficult to recommend a coach to someone else. Not so with Alan. As a back-of-pack triathlete, I struggle with training motivation and willpower around food choices and portions. Alan has composed simple dietary plans that have helped me lose 20+ pounds over a few months and to build both speed and endurance. I’m stronger and faster than I’ve been in prior seasons, and so far I’ve taken on two events that I would never have felt confident enough to attempt, let alone complete. One of the other things I’ve seen with prior coaches is that many of them have a set plan that isn’t really tailored to your needs. Alan asks for my feedback and works my plan around my complicated life. Alan is available to me when I need him, and reaches out after long training days and before and after races to give me some extra motivation or to get my feedback on results. We work together to set goals and plans and frankly, I couldn’t be happier with the service he’s provided.

Alan and I have only been working together for a month and already I’ve seen vast, dynamic changes in my abilities and confidence. I’ve been working more effectively and diligently based on his helpful guidance and demanding workouts. He’s available whenever I have questions and has provided invaluable feedback on my technique, cadence, strength and form (all the things I couldn’t do on my own!). I owe my season’s first race results to Alan’s excellent coaching– I placed 2nd overall for women and 1st in my age group. Couldn’t have done it without Alan!

I reached out to Alan to help guide me in getting ready for my first Olympic distance triathlon. Ten months later I was twenty pounds lighter, stronger, faster, and more ready than I ever imagined for the Chicago Triathlon. I thought a goal time of 3 hours was very ambitious, but he knew what I was capable of (even more so than I did!) and that’s exactly what I did! I am now in the midst of training for my first marathon, something I thought I could never do. I continuously push my own limits, and have Alan to thank for that. I don’t know how far I will go, but I am officially hooked!!!

I am a second year triathlete attempting to transition from international level triathlons to Half-Ironman level triathlons. I specifically asked Alan to help me bring structure to my training and to give me tips for improving my run. Alan provided a detailed training plan that was sensitive to my professional and family commitments yet delivered the structure and specific improvements I was seeking. Alan is a passionate athletic professional with tenacity and patience. I highly recommend his expertise to any level of athlete.

I’d highly recommend Coach Alan to any athlete looking for improvement. When I came to him I thought I had an idea of what I had wanted to do, but no real focus on what I needed to improve. With my busy schedule he gave me guidance on what I needed to do and when/how I should train. His workouts made sense with both my ability and the time I had available. I was able to improve my swim stoke while learning a lot in the other disciplines from working with him. I am eager for continued improvement in my races and highly recommend Coach Alan for anyone looking for a triathlon coach.

Hey Alan, I’m seeing all the attention you have been getting lately with your coaching. Now the webinar also. I just wanted to say congrats and keep up the good work. Success usually finds the ones that work the hardest.

I found Alan through Twitter and came to him with a very simple question, “How do I incorporate a gym session leg workout into my triathlon training?” He looked at my workout schedule, offered some great pointers and now I am fully focused and really looking forward to the upcoming season. Thank you so much!!! The tips you gave me are helping me dominate my workouts!!

I first met Alan when I was stationed in Norfolk, VA in 2007. While we were deployed to Bahrain I was training for the Ironstar Half Iron man. Alan was quickly drawn to the sport and jumped in to finding everything there is to know about it. From the very start, I recognized that Alan had what it took to be a superior triathlete. Alan and I started training together and within a very short time, Alan had become a top athlete in his age group. Coming from a competitive swimming background, he helped me improve my swim times and become more efficient in the water. Three short years later, my training partner has now become my coach. Alan dedicates himself to his athletes and his excellent work ethic means the athlete receive top quality, timely service. If you want to achieve your absolute best in our sport then you will be in good hands with coach Alan.

After training myself to run a 3:10 marathon, I decided that a triathlon was the next event to tackle. Having never been a good swimmer or cyclist, I decided a coach was the best way to excel at this enduring event. Coach Alan implemented a training regimen and helped me set short and long term goals for my training and then assessed my progress monthly and made adjustments for continued improvement. His expertise on nutrition and training and his critiquing of my form immensely helped my overall ability to swim and cycle so that I was able to finish my first olympic triathlon in a respectable time of 2:20. I would highly recommend Coach Alan.

I am a first year triathlete with the cycling and running legs being my core strengths–with limited to no experience in swimming longer distances, I needed to turn to an expert. It was a pleasure training and working with Alan in helping to improve my overall swimming technique and comfort in the open water. I completed my final triathlon of the year on September 11, 2011 and finished the swim leg in the fastest time yet! I highly recommend Alan as a triathlon coach to anyone seeking help or performance gains.
